Mechanical Services to Steam Tunnels
The project involved working closely with a most valued client to provide the full design, installation, testing and commissioning of various mechanical services between the boiler plant and three steam tunnels within the returns area of their distribution warehouse.
Steam and condensate pipework distributes steam from the external gas-fired boiler plant to the tunnels through various highly congested zones. All pipework is complete with necessary expansion joints, anchors, dirt pockets and trap sets to provide a safe installation.
LPG pipework distributes from the external storage tanks into the building at the closest point. A network of stainless steel pipework then travels the building before exiting and providing the service to the steam boilers.
Extract ventilation has also been installed at the tunnel locations to remove excess steam from the tunnels via a dedicated ductwork system and discharge into the atmosphere.
A new dedicated Category 5 Boosted Cold Water Tank and Pump set have been installed to provide protected water to the operation.
BMS works included the installation of an emergency alarm and reset panel located within the control room. This also included an audible alarm and warning system.
