Watsons Building Services were appointed to design and install the mechanical and electrical services as part of the refurbishment works of a Medical Centre in Shipley, West Yorkshire.
Two existing air to water air source heat pumps and associated plant were utilised and re-used. The old heating distribution pipework and heat emitters were stripped out and replaced with new pipework and low surface temperature radiators, sized with a flow temperature of 55°C ensuring the building could be adequately heated by the low-temperature ASHP’s.
A new domestic water services system was installed to serve a number of clinical basins, sinks and patient hand washing basins. HTM compliant sanitaryware and above ground drainage systems were installed to all clinical and patient areas.
Extract ventilation systems were installed to toilet areas along with a mechanical heat recovery ventilation system to satisfy the fresh air requirements in the waiting area. A comfort air conditioning system to the comms room of the practice consisted of a single split wall mounted indoor unit and one external condensing unit.
LED lighting has been installed throughout, with a bespoke continuous LED linear arrangement designed and installed in the waiting area. Photovoltaics have been installed to provide an annual yield of circa 12,800 kWh. Power, data and examination lights have been installed to consulting room. New fire detection and alarm and security system have been designed and installed.
