Mechanical & Electrical Services for School's Eco Building

Watsons Building Services was entrusted with the task of designing and installing the mechanical and electrical services for an Eco-Building at a school in Huddersfield. This innovative structure offers versatile space, including classrooms, a library zone, and areas for after-school clubs and culinary activities.

The single-story building, distinguished by its curved wall design, serves as a work-based learning hub with a strong emphasis on sustainable living and recycling. Remarkably, this construction boasts the pioneering use of timber block build curve wall cassettes and incorporates natural fibre recycled cotton insulation.

Project Scope

High-efficiency LED lighting with smart controls.
Photovoltaic electricity generation.
Eco water heater with intelligent features.
Electric LST fan heaters with energy-saving EC motors.
High-efficiency energy recovery ventilation with summer heat purging.

Project Outcomes

The project was completed on time and within budget in strict coordination with the main contractor and the client’s requirements for services to be live for set dates.
