Gas Boiler Replacement at a Care Home in Keighley
We recently completed the replacement of two gas-fired boilers at a care home facility in Keighley.
During a scheduled Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) visit, our engineers identified that the existing boiler plant was operating inefficiently and advised the client that a full upgrade would represent the most cost-effective long-term solution. Following this, a detailed site survey was carried out by our technical design team, resulting in the development of a comprehensive and structured replacement strategy tailored to the site’s operational requirements.
A key challenge of the project was maintaining an uninterrupted domestic hot water supply to the care home’s kitchen throughout the works. To mitigate disruption, WBS supplied and installed a temporary hot water cylinder, ensuring continuous service while the boiler replacement was undertaken.
The installation phase included the provision of a low-height frame header to accommodate the new boilers, along with a prefabricated flow and return header. This approach optimised plantroom space, reduced installation time, and improved overall system reliability.
As part of the project scope, the Building Management System (BMS) was upgraded to enhance system control and performance. The BMS works were completed seamlessly, with no operational impact to the client.
Project Scope
- Energy-efficient Gas-Fired Boilers
- Temporary hot water supply
- Prefabricated flow and return header
- Upgrades to the existing BMS
