Watsons Building Services Ltd carried out the ‘fit out’ contract associated with a new mezzanine installation which included amongst other services, evaporative cooling installations on the top floor mezzanine level.

The design was based on providing spot cooling to areas where the operatives work.

Roof mounted Evaporative cooling units were installed along with a number of roof extract fans.

These units were then connected with sheet metal ductwork, attenuators and grilles to distribute the conditioned air.

The installation also included all the associated cold water distribution systems and controls. The controls were interlinked to the site wide Trend BMS system.

Evaporative cooling now provides a fully effective solution whilst using significantly less energy than a refrigerated cooling system.

The installation was completed on time and on budget in strict coordination with the clients floor build programme.

Watsons Building Services Ltd were appointed to address the high temperatures experienced in various locations at a Distribution Centre in Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

To achieve this, Watsons Building Services Ltd carried out an extensive survey of the areas in question and came up with a cost effective design/ solution which included installing new systems and utilising and adapting existing systems.

A number of chilled water spot cooling systems to each mezzanine floor level were installed which consisted of supply air ductwork carried out in a mixture of galvanised sheet metal and textile fabric distributing at high level on each mezzanine floor level supplying cool air to areas adjacent the work stations.

The ductwork emanated from a number of floor mounted Air Handling Units which were located at various locations.

Chilled water pipework distributed from a number of externally mounted chillers to serve the cooling coils within each Air Handling Unit.

Watsons Building Services carried out the mechanical services installations at two simultaneously built Distribution Centres of 400,000ft2 and 700,000ft2 in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

The contract included full HVAC & BMS systems including gas fired heating, smoke extract ventilation and spot cooling to the warehouse areas and LTHW heating, mechanical ventilation, plumbing and water services to the office areas.
